Home-Schooling During COVID-19

If you’re a parent with children under the age of 18, you might be trying to figure out how to suddenly homeschool and work from home at the same time. Do you think we will be able to add homeschool teacher to our resume after the virus blows over? Online learning from our child’s school only takes about two hours a day to complete. So, what do you do with the rest of that time? In the first few weeks after his schooling was done, we were going on walks around the neighborhood. Then we started to get bored with doing the same walk every single day. We wanted to make sure he was getting a good
amount of technology learning in but also a good amount of non-technology learning. Recently we took the rock tumbler challenge and have a rumbling noise going 24/7 for the next 4 weeks in our garage
which will hopefully produce some amazing new gems that I still do not know where we will put. Maybe we can use them as an incentive or give away for life insurance prospects and clients.

We live in Bellevue, Washington and just realized how well strawberries and blueberries grow in this climate zone, so we planted several of each because they are perineal and my husband is convinced, they will produce crops for years to come. We have also had the privilege of meeting more neighbors we have never spoken with before since we were out in the yard. It is easier said then done, but we should all try to look on the positive side of things and appreciate the things that matter most to us in life. If now is the right time to look at life insurance, give us a call We started looking around and found several free resources to make learning fun beyond the hours of his schooling. Code Spark normally charges a subscription per month but during this corona environment they are giving the first three months away for free. The Smithsonian has created a whole page for just kids! Yesterday we followed their Collagasaurus tutorial using old magazines and catalogues we just had lying around the house. If you don’t know what a Collagasaurus is you should check it out, whatever your child makes should bring laughter and fun everyone in the house and you’ll have a blast creating it. The Highlights for Kids website had a fun Red Apple Smile craft that you can make using a few items from your kitchen and I’m sure your child will love actually being able to play with their food.

To help with making walks more fun around our neighborhood we decided to keep an eye out for smaller round rocks while we were out walking. We’ve been taking them home with us and painting them. Some of them are painted like ladybugs, some of them are just painted green and have the word smile on them, the possibilities are endless. After we painted them, the next day we took them with us on our walk and hide them in order to hopefully spread some positivity and cheer in these uncertain times. It’s also fun to walk by the next day and see how many of your painted rocks have been pick up by someone else. If you ever want to talk about fun homeschooling activities or life insurance options give us a call, we enjoy sharing ideas and knowledge about both topics.
